The extended promo stars Melissa Benoist as the Maid of Might - and reaction on social media has been decidedly mixed.
Some warmed to the clip's comic book thrills and rom-com stylings, as Supergirl took to the skies to halt a plane disaster and tackled the perils of dating.

But others felt the trailer didn't so much capture the spirit of the comic book, as it did replicate Saturday Night Live's recent Black Widow sketch, which saw Scarlett Johansson's bad-ass heroine thrown into the middle of a Devil Wears Prada-esque set-up.
Supergirl looks awfully close to the Black Widow: Age Of Me parody. I hope it's a bit less breathless when we see the full thing.

Dean Cain, Helen Slater to appear in CBS's Supergirl TV series
Supergirl will air on Mondays at 8/7c, going up against fellow DC series Gotham on Fox.
Homeland actor David Harewood will play Hank Henshaw on the series - and recently told Digital Spy that he thinks Benoist is a "fantastic" pick to play Supergirl.
