It's been almost three years since The Handmaid's Tale was last on screens and anticipation has been building ever since.

The dystopian thriller had fans on the edge of their seats with a tense season 5 finale, which saw June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) escape from the turmoil in Canada with baby Nichole in her hands.

Her reunion with Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) at the end will no doubt have ripple effects in the sixth and final season. But can these fierce adversaries put their past aside for a greater good?

The wait for new episodes has been long enough, and while fans in the US have been blessed with season six of The Handmaid's Tale since 8 April, the wait for UK viewers will be a little bit longer.

But how long, you ask?

Here's what we know about The Handmaid's Tale season 6's UK release date.

While there's still a bit of a wait for the final season here, it promises to be worth it as the official synopsis teases an exciting outing for the Margaret Atwood adaptation.

The synopsis reads: "In the final season of The Handmaid's Tale, June's unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead. Luke and Moira join the resistance. Serena tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick faces challenging tests of character.
