Grey's Anatomy has unveiled an exciting new guest star set to appear in season 21.

According to Deadline, Master of None's Lena Waithe will star as Dr Evynn Moore in a guest-arc storyline, who pays a visit to Grey Sloan hospital seeking medical assistance on a complex case involving her wife.

What's more, Moore has a connection to one of Seattle Grace's biggest personalities - Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) - being a capable and revered former student of hers.

Season 21 returns to screens in the US next month with new episodes after taking an extended break in November last year.

ABC is yet to renew the show for another season, but Shondaland boss Betsy Beers has already hinted that there could be more to come.

"As long as people want to watch it, we’re excited about making it," she told Deadline earlier this month, adding: "The great thing is, it’s a situation where you can bring people in and people leave, and people come back, and new people come in, and there’s always an engine for new personalities, new conflicts."

Grey's Anatomy season 21 returns to ABC on March 6 in the US. Previous seasons are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
