Emily in Paris will very much stay within the French border next season, with Lucas Bravo's Chef Gabriel coming back for the upcoming, très Parisian instalment.

Contrary to speculations wanting season 5 of the Netflix show to be set in Rome, where the fourth chapter partly takes place, it has been confirmed that production for season five will return to Paris in May next year (via Variety).

While the Chicago marketing executive played by Lily Collins will also explore more of the Italian capital in season 5, the new episodes are expected to go back to the show's origins and mostly be shot in the city of lights.

This means that viewers will get to see a lot more of Chef Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo. The 'will they, won't they' romance between the 'Hot Chef' and Emily has been at the heart of the show since season 1, often resorting to new twists to keep the two lovers apart.

Like some fans of the series, Bravo has also been a little frustrated with certain storylines concerning his chef, now the owner of a freshly Michelin-starred restaurant. The actor has recently voiced his criticism of Gabriel's arc over the last few seasons, saying he felt disconnected from his character.

"The 'sexy chef' was very much part of me in season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. I've never been so far away from him," Bravo told IndieWire.

The season 4 cliffhanger saw Gabriel rush to Rome to declare his love for Emily yet again.

Prior to this grand gesture, Emily had embarked on a new relationship with Marcello, the Italian heir to a cashmere empire which had signed with Agence Grateau. The deal stated that Emily would move to Italy to oversee the account for at least six months.

Emily in Paris seasons 1-4 are available now on Netflix.
