Production on the third season has experienced delays for a number of reasons, including last year's SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes and the busy filming schedules of lead stars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.

In March, Variety reported a behind-the-scenes difference with the creative vision for the third season, with the network said to have not taken to some aspects of creator and writer Sam Levinson's script.

The tragic death of cast member Angus Cloud at the age of 25 last July also meant re-writes were needed, with his character Fez said to have "figured heavily into the initial concept for the season".

Four months after Cloud's passing, Euphoria producer Kevin Turen also died suddenly of heart failure aged 44, which additionally "slowed down the creative process".

Sharing her hopes for her character following the release of season 2 in 2022, Zendaya envisioned a happier and sober ending for Rue.

"We carried her all the way to hopefully what is rock bottom and a dark moment," she said. "Hopefully by the end, [we] leave with a sense of happiness and joy that there is hope for her."

Euphoria airs on HBO in the US and on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
