Euphoria fans will be disappointed as HBO has officially confirmed season three has been delayed.

Variety has reported that Euphoria has been delayed, but states that HBO is still dedicated to the show going forward.

"HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season," a HBO spokesperson told Variety. The message statement: "In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."

The series has been delayed several times due to the Hollywood strikes, as well as the tragic death of Fezco actor Angus Cloud, at age 25, in July last year.

Euphoria's roster features a plethora of performers who have since gone on to become stars in Hollywood, including Dune's Zendaya, Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi, Immaculate actress Sydney Sweeney, and Hunger Games' Hunter Schafer.

As a result, the actors are all in-demand and incredibly busy – and so HBO are allowing the actors to pursue other opportunities outside of the show.

Just last week, Sweeney said that they were going to start filming the third season soon, explaining in a promotional video interview for her new psychological-horror film Immaculate that she is quickly getting back to work after this press tour.

"I go into Euphoria," Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, said. "It's like home when I go back to it. I like it. I'm excited. It's like family."

It remains to be seen how soon filming will begin, although Variety has reported that the scripts for season three of the drama are still being written so it may be a while yet.

Euphoria airs on HBO in the US and on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
