Strictly Come Dancing: The Launch Show: BBC One, 8pm
Before the competition starts good and proper in a few weeks' time, this special episode provides us with a first look at the celebrity contestants in their sequins - and reveals who will be partnered with which professional dancer. This will be the first series of the show without Bruce Forsyth, but left in the capable hands of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, we suspect it'll be a cracker.
Houdini: Channel 4, 9pm
Oscar winner Adrien Brody takes on the title role in this dramatic imagining of the master illusionist's extraordinary life. The first of two parts, this episode follows the escape artist's humble upbringings and subsequent rise to fame - with focus on the strain his stardom puts on the love of his life Bess (Kristen Connolly).
The Suspicions of Mr Whicher: ITV, 9.05pm
The Victorian detective drama returns tonight for a third series of deceit, murder and devilishly suave hats. Whicher (Paddy Considine) is hired by the former Home Secretary to investigate threats made against his son, and must keep the case from the police so as to prevent a national scandal.
