Clive Owen's new series The Knick has been renewed just as its season one premiere date has been set.
Cinemax announced at the TCA Press Tour today (July 10) that it has already commissioned a second season.
The pay channel also confirmed that it will air The Knick's series premiere on Friday, August 8 at 10pm ET.
Owen portrays early 20th century Dr John W Thackery in a series that explores the medical challenges faced by those working at Knickerbocker Hospital in New York.
The season opener sees the tortured Thackery assume the position of chief surgeon at Knickerbocker Hospital, and immediately facing opposition from benefactor Cornelia Robertson (Juliet Rylance).
African-American doctor Algernon Edwards (Andre Holland) also experiences discrimination on his first day working at the hospital.
