Survivor: Blood vs Water has named its champion.

Tyson Apostol, a veteran of the previous Tocantins and Heroes vs Villains seasons, was crowned winner of the CBS reality show's 27th cycle in the season finale on Sunday night (December 15).

Apostol is taking home a prize fund of $1 million. The runners-up this season were Apostol's alliance mates Monica Culpepper and Gervase Peterson.

Survivor's final Tribal Council was more emotional than ever, as Culpepper was repeatedly urged to show her emotions while questioned by fellow contestants.

Culpepper's vulnerability ultimately did not deliver her the win, as Apostol emerged with a landslide majority when the votes were cast.

The Blood vs Water theme for this season pitted popular contestants from the past against their loved ones and relatives.

CBS recently renewed Survivor through its 2014-2015 season, with Jeff Probst staying on as host and as a producer.
