The first picture of Lindsey Gort as a young Samantha Jones in The Carrie Diaries has been unveiled.
The actress - who joins the show for its second season - was described by executive producer Amy B Harris as "funny and sexy".
Harris explained: "In another nerve-wracking search to create the amazing characters we all came to know and love on Sex and the City, we went out in search this year for a young Samantha Jones.
"Lindsey Gort walked into the room and owned the part. Funny and sexy with a whiff of vulnerability and an amazing dash of outrageousness, Lindsey is our exciting choice to play the young Samantha Jones."
The role of Samantha Jones was made famous by Kim Cattrall in the original Sex and the City series between 1998 and 2004 and later in two big screen outings.
Cattrall took to Twitter to wish Gort all the best in the role, tweeting: "@LindseyGort So happy u're playing Fearless Sam! The key 2 her is her heart. She never judges those she loves. Have a blast! Kimx"
