Sex and the City writer Candace Bushnell has discussed Sarah Jessica Parker's feelings about The Carrie Diaries.
The former Carrie Bradshaw actress has previously said she found the Sex and the City prequel series, which stars AnnaSophia Robb as a teenage Carrie, "odd".

Parker had commented: "I'm not sure. You know, I think it's one of those tests of your generosity.
"She [Robb] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it's… odd."
Bushnell, having been asked whether she thought it would be "hard" for Parker to watch the prequel series, said to The Daily Beast: "The reality is, that's showbiz.
"Sarah Jessica's first part was somebody else's part. She played Annie on Broadway. She understands how these things work."
The writer also went on to suggest that Parker is now too old to play Carrie in the same way as before. Discussing the second Sex and the City movie and whether there might be a third, she said: "Look, Sarah Jessica Parker is 47. I think with the second movie, Carrie Bradshaw couldn't be an ingénue anymore.
"But I think they were stuck doing what the audience wanted."
She added: "Realistically, a middle-aged woman who was married without children would be much more focused on her career and less focused on this Mr Big: 'Does he love me?'... 'Does he still not love me?'
"I mean, I think it was coming to the end of what they could do with the character."
