The Umbrella Academy has shared a release date for the upcoming fourth and final chapter.

The Hargreeves siblings will bow out with a new batch of episodes coming to Netflix on August 8 this year, as confirmed by an Instagram post published on the streamer's official account.

Looking back on when the show inspired by the comics of the same name first premiered in February 2019, the caption reads: "hello: 15 february, 2019 goodbye: 8 august, 2024," in a nod to Klaus' palm tattoos.

"The final season of The Umbrella Academy is coming… only on Netflix."

Last November, the show hinted at a "final timeline" for chapter four with a subway style map with a timeline of dates ranging from 1953 to 2019. Each year corresponds to an event from the three seasons that have already been released, but the maps also features happenings which have occurred at "unknown" years.

As for its cast, the new season will mark the return of the adopted siblings played by Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, with Arya and Colm Feore also expected to star.

The main cast will be joined by Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally as community college doctors Gene and Jean Thibedeau. Meanwhile, Arrested Development's David Cross has been cast in the role of business owner Sy Grossman, who will "stop at nothing" to track down his estranged daughter.

Seasons 1-3 of The Umbrella Academy are now available to stream on Netflix. Season 4 will start streaming on August 8.
