Empire described Polite Society as a "spunky, spiky action comedy that lives on the charisma of its leading ladies", while Variety wrote that Nida Manzoor’s "screenplay with her ensemble’s line readings make for an infinitely quotable future classic."

Ahead of Polite Society's release in cinemas, Digital Spy caught up with Ritu Arya to talk about sibling relationships, changing the perception of South Asian roles on screen and more.

When asked what she hopes audiences take away from Polite Society, the actor said: "Do whatever you're passionate about, regardless of what people say. They don't know what's right for you. No one does.

"So you may as well do what you enjoy. You're going to spend a lot of time doing it – even if that's not what everyone is doing around you."

Polite Society is available to stream now on Netflix.
