It took a long, long time for an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman to happen but when one finally arrived on Netflix last year, it was well worth the wait.

Following the show's success it was renewed by the streamer for a second outing, with details being few and far between.

But now Mason Alexander Park, who fans had an all-too-short look at as Desire in season one, has shared a cryptic update about season two.

Speaking at the recent San Francisco Fan Expo, Mason said (via Screen Rant): "Netflix has not gone on record as calling it a Season 2, on purpose. And so, I will, from now on and in the future, and possibly until the end of the universe not refer to it as Season 2 until we know what it is.

"There is more Sandman coming in a really cool way, and it can take many forms, so we’re starting shooting in the summer, and we’re gonna tackle the next huge chunk of stories in however long that might take. And I’m really excited to share the format of what that might be with everybody eventually."

Last month Gaiman teased that season two will feature another of Desire's siblings, Delirium. Announcing the news via a video as part of Brazil's Comic-Con Experience (CCXP 22), Gaiman said: "We have things coming for you in season 2.

What to Read Next

"We have more members of the Endless coming, including the youngest member of the Endless. Don't tell anybody, but it's Delirium!"

Appearing in the comic series of the same name, Delirium is the youngest member of the Endless, and will join Tom Sturridge's Dream, Kirby Howell-Baptiste's Death, Mason Alexander Park's Desire and Donna Preston's Despair.

Of all seven members of the Endless family, only three are yet to appear in the series – with Delirium now confirmed it only leaves Destiny and Destruction.

The Sandman season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
