Snowfall final season lands premiere date

Snowfall is coming back!

Season six will be its final season, and the FX showrunners aren't going to keep us waiting too long, with the first episode premiering in the US on February 22. Each episode will also be available to stream the next day on Hulu.

Snowfall tells the story of the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, and it sounds like the closing season will be even more high-stakes and visceral than the former five.

In a hint of the do-or-die circumstances facing Franklin Saint and his contemporaries (both cartel members and law enforcement officers), the official Snowfall Twitter page posted the release date along with a daunting caption: "When everyone has their backs against the wall, who will they become in order to survive?"

The official synopsis (via TVLine) lays out the stage further, saying that the season is set in October 1986 as "civil war threatens to destroy the Saint family".

In short, Franklin will be faced with "out-manoeuvring the KGB, the DEA and the CIA, as well as avoiding the LAPD’s fully militarised, fully corrupt, CRASH units".

Not an enviable position to be in.

Season five saw law enforcement take a more violent approach to tackling the drug epidemic in LA, alongside the shocking murder of White Rob, one of the (relatively) more innocent characters in the series.

So, no one is safe, and the war on drugs is escalating. There's no guessing who'll make it out alive.

Snowfall airs on FX in the US while it's available to watch on Disney+ in the UK.
