The Sandman star Boyd Holbrook is delighting and horrifying fans alike with his portrayal of the Corinthian, but while he might be nailing the role now, the actor has admitted to making a mistake in his audition.
Ahead of The Sandman's successful launch on Netflix, Holbrook sat down for an exclusive chat with Digital Spy about his take on the character – and what clichéd move he made while gunning for the nightmare part.
Opening up about the audition process, Holbrook revealed just how long it took to find the right person for Corinthian and why.

"It was simply because of how each and every single person, the thousands of people that auditioned for it, took off the glasses," he explained.
"And I made the same mistake in the audition. It's hard not to take off your glasses, and for it to be a moment."

Explaining his take on the reveal, Holbrook continued: "I just found a very casual way where… I took off the glasses, and it wasn't a big deal.

"I think there's just time and space when you don't… when you're not familiar with something – it is something, because it's brand new to you – but when you've been this for 100 years, it could be very subtle, and the reveal is different."
And that's exactly what happened in the Netflix series – "Jamie Childs, who's a wonderful director, him and I just kind of got it where it was just a peek," Holbrook said of the moment's depiction on-screen.
