Supergirl spoilers follow.

The end of Supergirl is nearly upon us but not before the CW series gives us some supervillain romance.

Showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner have revealed that upcoming episodes will see a romance plot for Nyxly (Peta Sergeant) and Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer).

Speaking to The Wrap, Rovner said: "One of the things we're excited about is that Lex and Nyxly are gonna team up in a, not only a world domination way, but a love story. So we're excited to see that."

"Lex is gonna finally fall in love with his equal," Queller added.

Rovner had previously teased that fans are set to see a "vulnerable side" to Lex once he makes his return to the show, so it looks as if Nyxly will be the one to bring it out of him.

The actress previously promised a "great ending" for her character in the CW series, recalling: "They pitched it to me because they wanted to know if I had any input as to where I wanted to see Kara ending up at the end of the series.

"I had one request, and it wasn't even something they were thinking about doing. And they pitched me the end, and it's really lovely. It's a great ending. I feel fantastic about it."
