Netflix has cancelled The Society and I Am Not Okay With This, after previously renewing both for a second season.
The streaming service explained its decision for the axings, saying that it was due to "circumstances created by COVID".
"We've made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This," Netflix said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We're disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including: Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment for I Am Not Okay With This.
"Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the writers, casts and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world."
The Society starred Kathryn Newton and followed a group of teenagers who are transported to a version of their town without any parents, where they have to form order and alliances in order to survive.

It was given a second season renewal last July, after season one ended on a big cliffhanger. However, despite being renewed over a year ago, THR reports scripts had not yet been written for the second season.
I Am Not Okay With This was based on the comic book by Charles Forsman. Like The Society, it also ended its first season on a major cliffhanger.
While a second season was never officially announced, THR says it had been quietly renewed by Netflix with scripts already completed for new episodes.
