The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is set to make a comeback more than 40 years after it became a comedy classic.
Former Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse is working with Hulu in the US to both write and executive produce a new TV version of Douglas Adams's classic BBC radio series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cuse will be partnering to develop this new version of Hitchhiker's Guide with Jason Fuchs, writer of Wonder Woman and the animated hit Ice Age: Continental Drift. Hulu isn't commenting on the series.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was first adapted into a BAFTA Television Award-winning BBC TV series back in 1981, starring Simon Jones, David Dixon and Sandra Dickinson.
In 2005, a feature film version starring Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent hit cinemas, earning mixed reviews but making more than $100 million at the worldwide box office.
More recently, the original radio cast reunited last year for a new radio series written by Artemis Fowl novelist Eoin Colfer in celebration of the franchise's 40th anniversary.
What to Read Next
Adams's iconic original story follows the put-upon Arthur Dent as he's whisked away from earth by his friend Ford Prefect just before it's due to be demolished by the slobbish alien race known as the Vogons to make room for a hyperspace motorway bypass.
As they hitchhike their way through the galaxy, Arthur and Ford meet the shifty Zaphod Beeblebrox, clinically-depressed android Marvin and the intriguing Trillian.
There is no casting or release date for the new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Hulu yet, nor is there a UK home.
