After a near-inordinate amount of death, season five of our Game of Thrones replacement Vikings drew to a close last night (January 30) with one last murder.
(Only one, mind.)
As the penultimate season concluded, fans were left stunned – if not a little relieved – by the episode's single killing, when Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) strangled his wife Freydis (Alicia Agneson) for betraying him. Ivar the Merciless, more like.

'Ragnarok' brought the drama series back to Kattegat, as Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar battled it out for the crown – but while the season may have ended, the fight between the two brothers certainly hasn't.

Although Ivar managed to make his escape to lands unknown, and Bjorn found himself the King of Kattegat, a surprise vision from The Seer confirmed that the war was far from over.
With more bloodshed on the horizon for season six, Vikings creator Michael Hirst has hinted at where the show's final "saga" will go.

Speaking to ET, Hirst revealed that Vikings will "go to three completely new worlds", promising "the most expansive season ever".
"It's one of the biggest shows in the world now, and I got the opportunity to finish my saga of Ragnar and his sons," he added. "That was my love, the story I wanted to tell".
