Mike Colter has addressed the future of Netflix's Luke Cage series after its sudden cancellation.
Luke Cage looked to be getting a third season but the show was axed, leaving fans disappointed.
Colter, who plays the title character, shared that he thinks the series could return at some point, although it might be out of the fans' hands.
"I don't know that it's something that fans can do, necessarily," he told ComicBook.com. "I think it's a real network/studio thing. I think it'll resolve itself, one way or the other. There just needs to be some time.
"Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe that's it. But I don't think the fans – as much as the outpouring of the fans is very touching and well-received and it'd be appreciated – I don't think it's going to make anything happen, but it's nice to know that.
"I think ultimately, if it comes back, it'll probably come back because of the fans' demand for it. I don't think that their work is going in vain. It just may not happen as soon as they want to."

Colter also joked about the superhero's fate in relation to the Avengers: Infinity War ending, where Thanos snapped half of the world out of existence.
"Based off what happened, I'm already dead," he said. "The snap has already happened with Luke Cage. We're dead. We're already gone!"
After recent cancellations for Daredevil and Iron Fist as well, Jessica Jones and The Punisher remain the last two Marvel Netflix series still ongoing.
Luke Cage is available to watch on Netflix.
