The first trailer for Plane, a new action movie starring Gerard Butler and Luke Cage’s Mike Colter, has been released.
The film, which is being directed by Jean-François Richet (Assault on Precinct 13), sees Butler play Brodie Torrance, a pilot who saves his passengers from a lightning strike by performing an emergency landing.
After settling on a war-torn island, Brodie realises that “surviving the landing was just the beginning” after his passengers are taken hostage by “dangerous rebels.”

When trying to rescue the hostages, Brodie is helped by FBI prisoner Louis Gaspare (Colter), but he will soon discover there’s more to the criminal than meets the eye.
Co-starring alongside Butler and Colter will be Yoson An, Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) and Daniella Pineda (The Originals and Jurassic World Dominion). The script will be penned by Charles Cumming and JP Davis, with the film set to be released on January 27, 2023.
Colter, who also stars in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, played the titular character in Netflix’s Luke Cage until it was cancelled in 2018.

The actor had previously talked about the prospect of a revival, saying it was out of the fans’ hands: “I think it's a real network/studio thing. I think it'll resolve itself, one way or the other. There just needs to be some time.
“Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe that's it. But I don't think the fans – as much as the outpouring of the fans is very touching and well-received and it'd be appreciated – I don't think it's going to make anything happen, but it's nice to know that.”
He added that he “had no clue” why the show was cancelled but did reveal that he would “be around” should the chance of a return arise.
Plane will be released on January 27, 2023. Luke Cage is streaming on Disney+ in the UK and US.
