Anthony Joshua famously trounced Wladimir Klitschko in one of the biggest boxing matches of all-time a few months back, but not even going toe-to-toe with Dr. Steelhammer could prepare Anthony for Bear's Mission.

On the latest ITV adventure show from Bear Grylls, boxing's unified world heavyweight champion truly meets his match in the form of Mother Nature.

This special follows Anthony as he accompanies Bear Grylls on a two-day trek through Commando Ridge, the rugged terrain used during Royal Marine training exercises.

Viewers will watch Anthony brave the elements in trying to escape an actual sheep attack, which proved to be far more intimidating for the boxer than many of his in-ring opponents.

"I don't know what I'm in for," he admits in the special. "I could end up running into a sheep or a sheep could attack me. I don't know what's going to happen. The sheep here look like they are from the ghetto!"

Anthony would soon eat those words — quite literally — when he and Bear used a rare moment of respite to settle in for a supper of rotted sheep's leg and maggots. Bon appétit!

"When I'm at home I might ask for maggot and chips and see how that sits with me," he jokes.

He also grumbles: "I'm the king of my domain and right now I'm out of my comfort zone. I hate bugs, I don't like heights really, I'm used to being in the comfort of my living room but I think let's go for it, what's the worst that could happen?"

The roles are finally reversed mid-way through the mission when Bear asks for a few sparring points from the boxing champion — and gets a worrying answer when Anthony admits it's impossible to prepare yourself for a blow to the head.

"The art of the face-off [is] letting your opponent know that there is no fear," the athlete explains to his guide. "I look beyond the eyes, I'm looking into your soul. Defend, encounter, defend, encounter but don't switch off."

Hopefully Anthony keeps that "no fear" attitude in mind when he's tucking into those rotten sheep's legs…

Bear's Mission with Anthony Joshua airs Friday (October 27) at 9pm on ITV.
