Married at First Sight Australia groom Paul Antoine made a shock confession which threatened a feud between wife Carina Mirabile and Awhina Rutene.
Tuesday's episode (15 April) of the reality show saw the remaining couples participate in Partner Swap, with Paul being joined by Awhina - who is coupled up with Adrian Araouzou - for the night in the apartment.
Initially, Carina expressed her trepidation regarding the swap as she cited Paul's romantic history with Awhina's twin sister, Cleo. As Paul and Awhina began with questions, the pair pondered if Carina’s feelings of jealousy could jeopardise the relationship.
The following morning, Paul recalled details of a conversation he had previously had with Carina regarding his relationship with Cleo. He shared with Awhina that Carina had remarked her surprise that her husband would date somebody of Cleo’s "calibre".
"Wow. Oof," said a visibly shocked Awhina following the revelation. "Saying somebody is of a lower calibre is implying that you’re better than them. I would like to hear her say why she’s better than my sister."

"I would never say these things to people. Do not say that. My twin sister is beautiful and a loving Aunt. I would have loved to have heard Carina say that to my face. We had a good friendship.
"To know that she's said those things is so wrong. I’m really pissed off. I’m not going to let her get away with it,” she concluded, with Paul adding that he "got the ick" following Carina’s "snobbish" and "judgmental" comments.
