The Masked Singer UK spoilers follow.

The Masked Singer UK aired another double elimination, with an EastEnders icon and musician being unmasked.

Saturday’s episode of the ITV show saw the remaining five contestants – Wolf, Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab and Pufferfish – battle it out for a place in next week’s grand final, with the quintet having to impress the panel and live audience.

After one performance each, host Joel Dommett confirmed that the act with the lowest amount of votes would be eliminated immediately, with a further exit to take place later in the evening. Bear was the first unlucky singer, with the contestant swiftly unmasked.

After the panel delivered their guesses, which ranged from Romesh Ranganathan to Louis Theroux, it was Maya Jama who got the bragging rights after she correctly deduced that Example was the person underneath the mask.

“I sing like me on my records, so I knew I had to do something different every week,” said the musician following his unmasking. “It’s been great. I now get to ruin Elvis Costello’s [‘She’] again.”

Following the first unmasking, the competition continued as the remaining four acts performed another tune, with the studio audience once again wielding all the power. After a tense wait, Bush was the act who agonisingly missed out on a place on the final.

The unmasking proved to be a surprise as none of the panel deduced Natalie Cassidy’s identity, with the EastEnders star – who recently announced her departure as Sonia Fowler – grinning as she remarked that the panel nearly joined all the dots.

Cassidy and Example’s exits mean that Dressed Crab, Wolf and Pufferfish are the finalists for the sixth season of the show – who will come out on top in next week’s grand finale?

The Masked Singer airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
