'British Bake Off' squirrel causes Twitter storm

The sight of a squirrel's large genitalia on The Great British Bake Off stunned viewers and attracted a huge response on Twitter last night.

Over 5 million viewers watched Jo Wheatley crowned the winner of the BBC Two bakery reality show last night, but a clip of the small animal's testicles and penis attracted an equal amount of attention on social networks.

Journalist Caitlin Moran, who had watched a preview of the final, alerted viewers to the startling shots of the animal before the show aired.

"I've just seen a preview tape of tomorrow's Great British Bake Off," she said. "And 41 minutes in, there's a shot of a squirrel with ENORMOUS testicles.

"Remember everyone: it's the squirrel with the massive knackers on Great British Bake Off. Exactly 40 minutes in. HUUUUUGE."

Other celebrities shocked by the pictures included DJ Sara Cox, who told Moran: "Ha, my seven-year-old just said about your squirrel friend, 'I saw it's willy!' Put some pants on squirrel!"

Comic Josie Lawrence said: "Sorry but I've got the squirrel on pause.

TV journalist Donal MacIntyre commented: "Did any one see the horny squirrel on the Great Bake Off - risqué."

Meanwhile, British Bake Off host Sue Perkins retweeted a viewer who described the creature as "the true star of the show".

Moran added afterwards: "How the f**k is it managing to drag them up tree?

"I'm sure you all understand why I have written AN ENTIRE TV COLUMN about them in this Saturday's Times."
