The episode took an unexpected turn and threw us off guard in the series' first devastating twist.
Speaking at a press event, Abbington, who plays Mary Watson, confirmed that she'd known her character's demise was on the cards. While she saw it coming, and actually called it a dream to act out, viewers weren't ready to accept the tragic development.
