Gommorah's Cristiana Dell'anna has suggested that there's no saviour for the corrupt souls in the gritty Naples-set series.

The actress plays the headstrong mediator Patrizia in the second season of the hit Sky Italia show, who works for feared mob boss Don Pietro Savastano in the crime-ridden city.

"My character is complex," she told Digital Spy. "She's a woman who had the possible ability to influence Don Pietro towards abandoning his life.

"The journey that she goes through is from good to bad, and being a passionate woman you can see how an extreme act of love can become the worst criminal act in the end.

"When you embrace a story like this, you understand that characters come second place to the story - the story is more important of course. As an actor, I'm worried that I could be killed off very soon!"

On whether any of the characters - including rival leader Ciro di Marzio, who was almost sympathetic in the first season - have any redeeming qualities despite their violent criminal ways, she said: "There is no good - every character in Gomorrah reaches the point of no return.

"They can't go back. There's no redemption or atonement. They become bad to their bones."
