BBC's upcoming comedy satire Decline and Fall has officially got its cast.

Joining the previously announced Jack Whitehall and Eva Longoria are David Suchet (Poirot) and Douglas Hodge (The Night Manager).

The BBC Two three-parter, written by James Woods (Rev), is adapted from Evelyn Waugh's 1928 novel of the same name.

Set in the 1920s, the miniseries follows Paul Pennyfeather (Whitehall), who is wrongly dismissed from Oxford for indecent exposure after being pranked by The Bollinger Club.

Forced to take a job at Llanabba, an obscure public school in Wales, Paul meets the wealthy and powerful Margot Beste-Chetwynde (Longoria), who is the mother of a pupil.

It's love at first sight for Paul, but he's in for a few surprises when he agrees to tutor Margot's son over the summer holidays.

"I am extremely pleased to be a part of this amazing adaptation by James Wood," Whitehall said of his casting. "I've been a fan of this book since I read it as a teenager and I just hope that I can do it justice."

Filming begins next month in Wales.
