As is typical with television projects, it takes years to get an update and then two come along at once! After the first-look images for the second season of The Night Manager were released earlier this week, we now have a teaser trailer.
The spy thriller, based on John le Carré's 1993 novel of the same name, aired a hugely successful first season back in 2016, but it's taken nearly a decade for the highly-anticipated follow-up to come to fruition.
After a long and seemingly endless wait, the first teaser trailer has now been unveiled, with the action following MI6 agent Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) – now living under the name of Alex Goodwin – as he embarks on his next mission.
After spotting a familiar face, Jonathan follows the trail all the way to Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), and plans to work his way into his criminal operation.
As per the logline, Jonathan is "plunged deep into a deadly plot involving arms and training of a guerrilla army", with the character coming into contact with businesswoman Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone) on his mission.

The 30-second teaser gives a brief glimpse of what we can expect - romance, chases and explosions. As Jonathan comes into shot, he calmly explains: "I am the man who will not explode."
In addition to Hiddleston, who was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the first season, the returning cast includes Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Sex Education star Alistair Petrie and A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe, alongside Douglas Hodge and Michael Nardone.

In addition to Calva and Morrone, the newcomers consist of Game of Thrones star Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi and Hayley Squires. Georgi Banks-Davies, best known for Kaos and I Hate Suzie, is serving as the director.
Though we still don't have a release date for the eagerly-awaited second season, we do know that it will air on BBC One in the UK, while it will stream on Prime Video in the rest of the world.
