Hugh Laurie is teaming up with The Night Manager production team at The Ink Factory for another John le Carré adaptation for the BBC, Legacy of Spies, which already has a stacked cast.
Deadline reported that the actor has joined the show in a mystery role that will be revealed soon. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too long before we do find out, as filming on the project is currently underway, with a big budget behind it.
Elsewhere in the show, we've got Succession and Deadpool and Wolverine actor Matthew Macfadyen as George Smiley, the same legendary spymaster character from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

There's also Queer as Folk and Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam as British intelligence agent Alec Leamas, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Daniel Brühl as East German spy Jens Fielder, and The Empress star Devrim Lingnau as Agent Tulip/Doris Quinz.
They are joined by Legion and Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens as Bill Haydon, and What It Feels Like for a Girl's Jake Dunn as Peter Guillam – both important Tinker Tailor characters.

Rounding up the lineup are All Quiet on the Western Front's Felix Kammerer as the cold-blooded Hans-Dieter Mundt, and Agnes O’Casey as Liz Gold, reprising the role from the West End production of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold.
In fact, the show is said to be incorporating some elements of that story, which is the first novel of the George Smiley trilogy (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is the second, and A Legacy of Spies is the third).

"This is a timeless, and very timely, story about espionage, power, and morality", Macfadyen said previously.
"I am hugely thrilled and not a little daunted to be playing George Smiley - this quiet, intelligent, and deeply private man. And delighted to be stepping into le Carré's world in the company of such talented actors and producers."
Meanwhile, season 3 of The Night Manager is on the way, with creator David Farr saying that it "won't take as long as the last one", acknowledging the 10-year gap between seasons 1 and 2.
Legacy of Spies does not currently have a release date.
