Mark Wright has explained the reason behind the name of his and wife Michelle Keegan's baby.

The couple welcomed their child Palma last month, and now Mark has explained why they chose that name.

Appearing on This Morning this week alongside Olly Murs to promote their radio show, Mark denied reports that they had named their baby after the famous Spanish resort.

"That's what the papers say," he said, adding: "We just love the name, we love the name Palmer with an 'er' and then we just liked putting an 'a' on it, the way it read. So we just love the name really."

Mark described being a parent as "the best feeling in the world" even if it can be tough at times. Thankfully, his pal and radio co-host Olly became a new dad last year, so he was able to share lots of practical advice with Mark.

On his Heart radio Saturday breakfast show recently, Mark spoke about how he felt becoming a father.

"Mate, it's actually hard to put into words," he said. "It's the biggest achievement of my life, it's all I think about.

"But obviously hats go off to my wife. She is an absolute super human, a superhero for bringing this baby into the world.

"It makes you realise what our mums did for us and makes me have so much more respect than I already had and what women had to go through."

"That moment when I held her in my arms, it gets me emotional now thinking about it," continued Mark. "It's a very special feeling. I can't really put it into words. We've waited a little bit of time, we've chased our dreams and our careers and now we're here. We've got a baby."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV and streams on ITVX.
