The BBC has unveiled a new look at the return of teen drama Boarders.

Timewasters creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor's latest series dramatises the lives of five Black students as they earn scholarships to leave city life behind for the prestigious boarding school St. Gilbert's.

The teens strive to make the absolute most out of their experience at the boarding school, though they discover their invitation to attend St. Gilbert's was a PR stunt to bring the school some good press.

In this second term, the students of St. Gilbert lead a rebellion that puts headmaster Bernard on suspension, though this change in leadership won't make the transfer students' lives easier.

Former Call the Midwife star Niky Wardley's character Carol Watlington-Geese takes control of the school as the new headmaster — and her first task is trying to get the transfer students out of St. Gilbert.

Supacell's Josh Tedeku is set to return as Jaheim Marsham, while The Last Kingdom star Harry Gilby reprises his role as Jaheim's arch-enemy (and new headmaster Carol's son) Rupert. Jodie Campbell, Myles Kamwendo, Aruna Jalloh and Sekou Diaby are all back as well.

Newcomers include Wunmi Mosaku (Loki) as Jaheim’s mum, Grace, and Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey) as the school's writer-in-residence Jude.

Boarders executive producer Madeleine Sinclair, of Studio Lambert, said of the new season: "We’re so thrilled with our cast for series two of Boarders, both the wonderful returning characters and the exciting new faces – viewers are in for a real treat. Daniel’s scripts are once again as funny as they are thought-provoking and our talented cast come together to bring them to life perfectly.”

The first season of Boarders was a huge critical hit for the BBC, scoring a rare 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its darkly comic take on the subject matter.
