The first clip from Lockwood & Co, the Netflix series starring Bridgerton’s Ruby Stokes and Grantchester’s Morven Christie, has been released.

The series, which is being written and directed by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), is based on Jonathan Stroud’s novel of the same name.

Stokes will star as the “supremely gifted” Lucy Carlyle in the show, which is due to be on Netflix on January 27, 2023. Christie, best known for playing Amanda Hopkins in Grantchester, will assume the role of Penelope Fittes.

The plot will follow Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman), a “rebellious young entrepreneur haunted by his mysterious past”, eccentric sidekick George Cubbins (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) and Lucy as they “unravel a terrifying mystery that will change the course of history”.

The titular organisation is the only one to operate without adult supervision in a world “plagued by ghosts, where giant corporations employ psychic teens to battle the supernatural”.

Other members of the cast include Ivanno Jeremiah (Cold Feet), Luke Treadaway (A Street Cat Named Bob) and Ben Crompton (Game of Thrones). The first season will consist of eight episodes, with William McGregor (His Dark Materials) assisting Cornish in directing duties.

Lockwood & Co will be released on Netflix on January 27, 2023.

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is in production.
