Bake Off is back, and if you're inspired to start practicing your chocolate cake recipes, you need to know that Lakeland has discounted one of KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixers – the brand used on the show this year.

We asked KitchenAid to confirm the model installed in the tent but they remained tight-lipped. Nonetheless, we've done a little investigative work and we're pretty sure the bakers are using the KSM175 in their bid to win the Star Baker title.

This mixer currently retails for £499, but here's the good news: the older KSM150 model is currently on sale at Lakeland in a chic matte grey colour for just £329.99.

It has exactly the same machine specification (ditto the KSM125, which is also the same build with some minor design updates).

We think this is a bargain if you want a top-quality mixer to whip up all of your showstoppers.

We know this is confusing, but the only difference between the KSM150 and the newer KSM125 and 175 is that, on the latter two models, the KitchenAid logo is embossed rather than printed in black. The 175 also comes with some extra accessories.

All the models have 10 speeds, KitchenAid's patented 'planetary' mixing action (to incorporate ingredients really thoroughly) and a single point where all accessories attach.

Each also comes with a 4.8L bowl, a wire whisk, a dough hook and the standard beater for mixing batters.

The KSM175 comes with an additional 3.3L bowl and a flex edge beater (that can get right to the edge of the bowl). Plus, it's available in a range of pretty hues. We've spotted the Ice Blue and Pistachio in the Bake Off tent.

The KSM125 mixer topped the leaderboard in the latest round-up from our friends at the Good Housekeeping Institute.

So, if you're looking for a quiet machine that makes light work of even the heaviest mixes and you don't mind foregoing an extra bowl and the beater, this Lakeland offer is a really good deal.

Plus, if you find that you can’t live without the smaller bowl or the flex edge beater, both are available to purchase separately from Amara.

You can grab this deal from Lakeland here, and then get baking!

The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4, and spin-off show The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice airs on Fridays at 8pm, also on Channel 4.
