Neighbours legend Ian Smith has shared a positive health update after being diagnosed with a terminal tumour.
The Harold Bishop star first shared he'd been diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer called pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma last year. In a new interview, the soap actor explained his life expectancy has been extended, moving from this Christmas to Christmas 2026.
"I am in this funny, vacuous place," he told The Guardian.

"They can't say the cancer has gone – in fact, they mustn't, because it has come back in other people and they have died of it," he added.
"But honestly, if they told me it had come back now, I would be ready this time."

This comes after Smith said his PET scan showed a shrinkage in the size of his tumour last December.

"I did a PET scan and the words, I believe, were 'significant metabolic change, significant shrinkage of tumour'," Smith told TV Week at the time.
"I've gone from a threat of dying this coming March to maybe a few more months… and now, God, who knows?
"It's not a cure and it won't be a cure, but I certainly have got a year, maybe two," he added. "That's amazing. It really is."
