Following the news that Hollyoaks Later will be returning for a special one-off episode in January as Breda McQueen's story comes to a head, actress Moya Brady has now offered some insight on what the standalone special will be like.
Boasting that her dark scenes will rival those of stylish violence maestro Quentin Tarantino, Moya admitted that she's "terribly excited" about working on the late night spin-off.
"I think it's safe to say that this will put Tarantino to shame! It's going to make Tarantino look like The Magic Roundabout, if any of you remember that," she joked.
"Let's say it's going to be pretty full on – it's all about Breda, rightly so! It's been about five years since Hollyoaks has done this and Hollyoaks always pushes the boundaries anyway, but the boundaries are pushed even further, further, further… It's a great honour."
Moya's co-star Jennifer Metcalfe recently confirmed that she'll also be taking part in the Hollyoaks late-night special, telling Digital Spy that it'll be "gory and racy [and] everything that you want".
Meanwhile, reflecting on how much fun it is to play the villainous character, Moya added: "Honestly it's therapy for me – I should be paying them, but don't tell anyone I said that! I love going round killing men that deserve it.
What to Read Next
"I think it's the role I was born to play. It's the agony and ecstasy of it, it's hard work but I read the scripts and really look forward to doing it. I enjoy the writing for Breda a lot, it's all fun and it's all agony."
Breda's crusade against bad dads has led to her holding fan-favourite character Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) hostage in recent weeks, and the actress admitted that she was surprised by viewers' reaction to the plot.
"I shouldn't have been because Tony's such a beloved character," she admitted. "I really shouldn't have been but we're so busy everyday that I forget people are watching it so I was really surprised.
"I think Daikin Marsh is a brilliant director, I've worked with him before and I think he's exceptional and I think the whole thing was done really, really well."
Hollyoaks fans' angry Twitter reactions have also left the actress shocked too, but she admits that it's all "part of the fun".
"Every now and again I have a little look at Twitter because I'm not a big Twitter-er! I only post every now and again so I don't really do it, but every now and again I have a look and I am shocked," she explained.
"But I'm an old lady, it's a different world nowadays but you think, 'Oh my goodness, I'm only doing a job', but people are fuming with me, but I guess that's part of the fun isn't it."
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
