Emmerdale villain Claire King has insisted that she isn't fazed by the fiery fan reactions she gets for playing Kim Tate.

Appearing on today's (March 22) This Morning, Claire told presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that she's had a lot of hate over the years, but sees it more as a "job done" kind of situation.

Reflecting on her three-decade-long association with the role of Kim, Claire admitted she was "very lucky as an actress to have had that part".

But even though she's capable of truly wicked things, does she actually like her character deep down?

"I do like her," she added, "I think she can be a real moo most of the time but I do actually like her. I think there is a softer side."

The actress also discussed the public's reaction to her over the years, noting: "I had people, you know, hitting me over the head in the old days with umbrellas and all sorts going on, because they couldn't believe how vile she was.

"Now it seems to be less physical and more sort of on the keyboard."

Ruth then suggested that she could treat this sort of response as flattering, since it's all down to her skills as an actor.

"That's what I say – job done," Claire laughed.

Emmerdale usually airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays – but check out the scheduling changes for the next few days here.
