Russell Tovey has revealed that he auditioned for the role of Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders.
The 33-year-old Being Human and Looking actor said that losing out on the part made him feel "gutted".
Asked by Heat magazine whether he would like to star in a soap one day, Tovey said: "No, not really.
"I auditioned for the role of Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders and it was between me and Jack Ryder and he got it.
"I was gutted at the time, but now it doesn't excite me. I think it's quite limiting to do a soap."
The actor, who has most recently filmed Banished, recently revealed that he was left with a "crusty butt cheek" after picking up a tick during his time making the BBC drama.
