Suspicion in EastEnders' Lucy Beale murder mystery has fallen back onto Lauren Branning after she was caught lying about her alibi.

Thursday's episode (December 4) saw Lee Carter realise that Lauren hasn't been entirely honest about her whereabouts on the night of Lucy's death.

Lee (Danny-Boy Hatchard) made the discovery after watching a video on Fatboy Chubb's mobile phone, which featured the joker doing impressions of Jay Brown.

The footage was recorded on the night of the murder and Lee was stunned to spot Lauren in the background out on the Square, contradicting her previous claims that she attended Roxy Mitchell's party before leaving early and heading straight home.

While Lee immediately noticed the significance of Lauren's lie, he didn't get a chance to confront her as Peter Beale's plans to propose to her interrupted the moment.

Eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that Lauren was outside the Beale house, adding a new level of intrigue to the mystery.

Show bosses are naturally keeping tight-lipped on where the story goes from here, but Lauren could be about to find herself the focus of police attention in the ongoing investigation.

As revealed earlier today, DI Keeble will soon ask Emma Summerhayes to seize Lauren's laptop as part of their enquiries - leaving her with some explaining to do when something comes to light on the computer.

EastEnders continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
