EastEnders star Milly Zero has called for the show to explore Dotty's background by building up the Cotton family.

Dot's granddaughter Dotty, now played by Milly, was reintroduced last year –ten years since we'd last seen her as a child.

Dotty initially moved to Walford to be with her grandmother Dot, who hasn't been on screen since earlier this year.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the possibility of seeing a comeback for Dotty's estranged brother Charlie – and possibly other members of the Cotton family as well – Milly said: "That would be really interesting as Dotty is a bit of a lone wolf right now.

"Even though she lives with Sonia and Whitney, she isn't really related to them and they don't really have her back in the way that family does.

Milly also addressed the confusion surrounding June Brown's departure from the soap, saying: "I really enjoyed the small amount of time we worked together. She's so funny, so clever and she's just a brilliant actress.

"The door is left open for her to return and obviously she's gone off and come back before, but I'm not too sure what's going to happen."

EastEnders is currently on a reduced schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic, airing on Monday evenings at 8pm and Tuesday evenings at 7. 30pm on BBC One.
