EastEnders is bringing Pam Coker back again next month for the next chapter in Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway's story.
As previously rumoured, Lin Blakley has reprised her role for two episodes as loveable Pam, who left Walford with her husband Les back in 2016.
Although Lin hasn't been part of the regular cast for three years, fans have seen Pam pop back to the Square a handful of times since she bowed out – with her latest return stint airing in early November.
When Pam heads back to Walford to attend to matters at the funeral parlour, she soon realises that something is amiss with Ben – who feels awkward around her due to his new relationship with Callum.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Lin said: "Pam comes back to do something with the funeral parlour, but while she is there, she wants to see everyone that she loves – including Ben. However, she quickly picks up on something and knows there is something going on."
Discussing Pam's reaction to Ben's romance with Callum, Lin explained: "All she feels in her heart is that Paul would want Ben to move on – we have to in life. He is only young and she knows that's what he needs to do. She really tries to stress that to him.
What to Read Next
"Obviously she can't say whether this relationship is going to be right for him in the long-term, but she wants him to move on. Ben thinks of Pam as his nan and he listens to her."
Lin added: "Being back in Albert Square brings back huge amounts of memories of her grandson Paul, who she adored. Pam is sensible, though. She knows Paul is gone and she will miss him forever, but she really does want Ben to move on.
"She tells Ben that if Callum has come into his life, and it feels right, then he should go with it – he's still a young kid at the end of the day. She wants him to move on and that's genuinely how she feels. She tells him to be happy and she genuinely means it – she really does want that.
"It's difficult to visualise in Soapland, but Ben does actually visit Les and Pam off screen. He often goes and sees them and that's never going to stop.
"Each time, I think she's told him that she wants him to have someone wonderful in his life, and if something happens, go along with it."
Discussing how she found working with Max Bowden for the first time since he's taken over the role of Ben, Lin said: "To be perfectly honest, I didn't really think about it as it seemed so natural.
"I loved Harry [Reid], he is a gorgeous kid and so is Max equally – he is a lovely actor. It just felt really natural as if I had worked with him before.
"Obviously I miss Harry, and I did think it was going to be weird, but it wasn't at all. These things happen in life – people get older or they get recast. It happens and it was quite a natural move. When I met Max, we just clicked into a scene. It was so natural. He has fitted in extremely well."
EastEnders continues tonight (Friday, October 25) at 8.30pm on BBC One.
