Coronation Street's DS Lisa Swain is fast becoming a fixture on the cobbles after her years of solving crimes in Weatherfield, but actor Vicky Myers actually appeared on the soap in two different roles before landing the part of Swain.
Myers has opened up to Inside Soap magazine about her previous Corrie appearances, revealing that her past scenes saw her embroiled in two dramatic accidents.
"I came in for the first time as a paramedic for a very busy scene when there was a fire on the Street - just a walk-on role," she said. "Then a few years later, I played a driver who came to the rescue after Tyrone and Molly had been in a car accident up in the hills.

"I shared scenes with the wonderful, lovely Alan Halsall [Tyrone Dobbs]. He's hilarious, and always has some funny jokes to tell you!"
Myers eventually landed the role of police officer Swain in 2021, as she investigated the hate crime against Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin, which resulted in Seb's death. With Swain having later become a regular character, Myers revealed that she is delighted that her behind-the-scenes work on fleshing out Lisa has paid off.

"It was so easy to get invested in the character - this no-nonsense, meticulous, hard-working detective - because the scripts were so well-written," she said.
"I developed my own backstory for her, and as I've returned to the show each time we've learned more and more about her, and I'm pleased to say it's always fitted with who I expected her to be."

Myers also shared her thoughts on Lisa's tentative friendship with Carla Connor, revealing that her favourite scene to date is one in which Swain confided in Carla about her grief for her late partner and her difficulties with her teenage daughter, Betsy.
"It's great that she confided in another female," she said. "They have some things in common in the fact they are both professional, powerful, opinionated and hard-working. But then how much of a friend would they actually be to each other?
"It depends on how much Swain is willing to let somebody in. Let's wait and see!"
Alison King, who plays Carla, recently responded to a popular fan theory that Lisa and Carla may become a couple, with King confirming that she doesn't "think it's going that way", although she joked that "if the fans keep talking about it, the producers might get ideas!"
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
