Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has admitted he is "devastated" over co-star Chris Gascoyne's exit as Peter Barlow.
Chris's temporary exit from the ITV soap was confirmed back in July, though how his character will be written out remains under wraps for now.
Up until recently, Ryan's character Ryan Connor was living with Peter and Carla, though he moved out amid tensions over Ryan's behaviour since his acid attack earlier this year.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the recent Inside Soap Awards, actor Ryan said of Chris's exit: "I'm devastated actually! Chris is one of the few people in my life that fall into mentorship – that's a good word to use. He's an incredible actor and even better person. He's a wicked guy.

"I'm going to stay in touch with him, obviously! But I'm going to miss working with him all the time. He's someone that you learn from by osmosis – every day you learn something from Chris, whether it's as a person or an actor. You're always taking something from him naturally absorbing, because he's just so full of wisdom, so full of skill and technique.
"On top of that, he's just a genuinely lovely guy. I'm going to miss him dearly."

Ryan also opened up about his character's decision to move in with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) as the two characters go through separate struggles.
"Me and Cait get on very, very well," the star said. "She's amazing to work with – she's a very, very talented actor. We've had a real ball filming stuff so far.
"I hope they do keep the characters closer together in the future because we have a really good time on set. It's those chemistries that you develop with cast and crew that end up showing their full fruition when it comes into the content, so I'm hoping they're going to do that."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
