Coronation Street star Sally Carman has spoken about her recent engagement to co-star Joe Duttine, joking they "had to find something to do" during lockdown.
The pair, who play Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe on the ITV soap, confirmed the happy news back in March, having been romantically linked since 2018.
Appearing on today's (September 16) This Morning, the subject of their relationship was brought up, Sally saying: "I know! That did happen, yeah!"
When Phillip Schofield noted that they got engaged during lockdown, the actress replied: "Yeah we had to find something to do to fill the days and that was one of the things".
Holly Willoughby then suggested that given COVID-19 restrictions on close contact, the writers could change Abi's storyline so that she kisses Tim.
However, Sally noted that her character would never betray Sally Metcalfe, stating: "Abi would never put a foot wrong when it comes to Sal.

"She's like her mother, her sister, her daughter, her best friend all wrapped into one. There's no way, she could do that!"
That reluctance was recently echoed by Joe too, who recently said he wouldn't want to share any romance scenes with his fiancée as it would be too distracting.
"That's the last thing me and Sally want," he said. "It would be a disaster. We would make each other laugh all the time, we wouldn't be able to concentrate – and it'd be a little too close to home, wouldn't it?
"We don't want that as it's nice to have a life away from the Street. We met at Corrie and that's always going to be special for us, but we don't want to act it out on screen!"
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV. This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
