Hollyoaks star James Sutton has said that he was proud to be involved in such an impactful storyline.
His character John Paul McQueen was raped by student Finn O'Connor in an emotional storyline. John Paul was sent to jail last month after assaulting Robbie Roscoe.
Sutton said that the storyline has been tough to film: "It's been as uncomfortable to play as it has been to watch.
"It's one of those storylines you can't really switch off, but I'm proud of how it's been received and the impact it has had."
He also admitted the show was having an effect on his girlfriend, model Katie Williams. "My poor girlfriend has had to put up with me not sleeping and looking like s*** all the time," he said.
The actor said that when John Paul returns his nightmare will continue.
