A Prince and Madonna world tour sounds pretty amazing, and it nearly happened according to Madonna's manager.

Guy O'Seary said he approached the 'Purple Rain' superstar about the potential tour a few years ago, but it was ultimately not to be.

He wrote on Instagram: "I called him a few years back with the idea of Madonna and Prince going on tour together.

"I pitched it to Madonna and within a second she said 'I like it, we can call it the Royalty Tour... The Queen and The Prince'."

He added: "When I told Prince the idea he said: 'the world isn't ready for this, it's too big'... I always felt like one day I would pull it off."

The singer passed away yesterday (April 21) at his home in Minnesota and an autopsy is expected to take place later today.

Tributes have poured in for the iconic musician, while Google has honoured him with an awesome 'Purple Rain' doodle.
