The two people behind the Oscars Best Picture disaster have been assigned bodyguards, after receiving death threats.
La La Land was incorrectly announced as the Best Picture Oscar winner after Brian Cullinan (one of the two PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants responsible for the handling of the Oscars results) handed the Best Actress envelope to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
Two and a half minutes went by – during which the producers of La La Land gave their acceptance speeches – before the stage manager managed to clarify the true winner, which was Moonlight.

Martha Ruiz, the other accountant, was criticised for not resolving the error faster.
TMZ has now reported that, in the aftermath of the drama, PwC has hired protection for Cullinan, Ruiz, and their families – especially after photos of their homes were posted online.

The publication added that the accountants were fearing for their lives.
PwC took full responsibility for the mix-up, but stated that both Cullinan and Ruiz would keep their accountancy jobs.
"For the past 83 years, the Academy has entrusted PwC with the integrity of the awards process during the ceremony, and last night we failed the Academy," it said in a statement.
Both Cullinan and Ruiz will not be invited back to the Oscars.
In addition, Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs said that the Academy was still evaluating whether it will continue its business relationship with PricewaterhouseCoopers, despite the firm partnering with them on the Oscars for the last 83 years.
