The British Academy Film Awards' decision not to include comedian Rik Mayall and award-winning actor Bob Hoskins in its 'In Memoriam' segment has proved controversial on social media.

Robin Williams, Lauren Bacall and Lord Richard Attenborough were among the celebrities whose lives were memorialized, but Mayall and Hoskins were left out of a tribute montage.

Boyhood, Theory of Everything lead winners at BAFTA Film Awards 2015

Hoskins won the Best Actor BAFTA Award for his performance in Mona Lisa, and also appeared in The Long Good Friday, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Snow White and the Huntsman prior to his death last April.

Mayall was perhaps best known for his television work in The Young Ones and Blackadder, but he also starred in the films Guest House Paradiso and Drop Dead Fred.

Mayall's sudden passing shocked the entertainment world last June.
