Almost as if to remind you it's a thing that's still happening, there's a new name in the mix to possibly direct the Green Lantern reboot.

The Hashtag Show is reporting that Warner Bros is lining up Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt for the remake, which he will start working on once he's finished on his sci-fi Captive State.

It's not the first time Wyatt has been linked to a superhero film as he dropped out of directing X-Men spin-off Gambit in 2015, following a change in the filming schedule that meant it conflicted with another project.

Green Lantern Corps will reportedly feature two iconic bearers of the Green Lantern ring: Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

It will apparently centre on the introduction of African-American war hero John Stewart to the intergalactic space police force known as the Green Lanterns, teaming him up with veteran Hal Jordan.

But, until anything is confirmed, it's all speculation over what the reboot could be and who could direct it.

What to Read Next

Back in March, it was reported that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice writer David S Goyer was going to direct Green Lantern Corps, especially since he's writing the reboot anyway.

Apparently, we might even be seeing a member of the Green Lantern Corps in Justice League, but we'll have to wait until that film hits cinemas on November 17 to find out.
